We are not to worship angels. Worship God, for He has created everything!

The word “angel” comes from the Greek word aggelos, which means “messenger.” Angels are God’s messengers. Angels praise, worship and serve God, just like we do. We are not to worship Angels. Angels are created by God, and are used by God for many different purposes – e.g. to deliver messages from God to us, guide us, protect us, minister to us, strengthen us, encourage us, deliver us, etc. There are armies of angels serving God, and doing God’s will. Angels are ministering spirits of God. They may be visible or invisible. They may appear in a spectacular manner, shining in glory, dazzling light, etc; but they often also take on the appearance of men. Like us, angels were all created to be holy and to worship and serve God. There are however some angels that are “fallen”, rebelling against God, under Satan’s leadership. These fallen angels are often called demons. Satan is a fallen angel. We are encouraged to test every spirit, make sure it is from God, because not every spirit is of God. Matthew 18:10 (KJV) 10Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. Acts 27:23-25 (KJV) 23For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, 24Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. 25Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. 1 John 4:1-4 1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Luke 2:8-15 “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.” Colossians 1:16-17 (KJV) 16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Psalm 91:11 (KJV) 11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. Jude 1:6 (KJV) 6And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Jude 1:9 (KJV) 9Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. Revelation 20:4 4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 22:16 (KJV) 16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Hebrews 1:14 (KJV) 14Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Hebrews 13:2 (KJV) 2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Luke 20:35 (KJV) 35But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Luke 12:40 (KJV) 40Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. Luke 12:8 (KJV) 8Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: Psalm 91:1-16 (KJV) Psalm 91 1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Psalm 148 (KJV) 1Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. 2Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. 3Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. 4Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. 5Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. 6He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass. 7Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: 8Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word: 9Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: 10Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl: 11Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth: 12Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: 13Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven. 14He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD. Revelation 14:6 6And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, All Things are Accomplished Here is the heart of the Gospel. Jesus has completed all the work His Father has given Him. He has left nothing undone. And every detail of His ministry has been the fulfillment of Scripture, even His cry of thirst. Both the work and the word come from His Father. Jesus is a man of flesh. And in this hour of need, He voices the physical thirst of every man. And the soldiers show some spark of kindness by sharing some of their sour wine with Him. But there is also a rich symbolism beyond the physical cry. Jesus had told Peter earlier in the Garden that He must drink the cup which His Father had given Him (John_18:11). Drink every dreg of suffering to the bottom of the cup. And in this cry of weakness, as the psalmist had prophesied, Jesus has come to the lowest point of His descent—but also to the moment of His being lifted up. In both of the psalms which speak so eloquently and specifically of the anguish of Jesus' thirst (Psalm_22:15; Psalm_69:3, Psalm_69:21) there is also joyful praise for the Lord has triumphed (Psalm_22:31; Psalm_69:30, Psalm_69:34). Hyssop was used to lift the wine to Jesus' parched mouth, as hyssop was used by God's people to sprinkle blood on the doors of their homes the night in which they were delivered from captivity (Exodus_12:22). Jesus is the Lamb of God whose blood is shed and the one door by which we must enter. "The Jewish Passover is fulfilled in the sacrifice of the true Paschal Lamb." Jesus' last word, "It is finished!" is a cry of victory, not of defeat. He is really in charge! He willingly accepts death because it is the completion of God's plan. The work of the Incarnate Word has been accomplished. This is the moment of His glory, not His enemies'. The verbs are active, "bowing His head, He gave up His spirit" (John_19:30).
